Alice de Sousa is a multi-award winning writer, producer and actress.

In partnership with Nicolas Steil they have created Iris Productions UK Ltd. the British representative of the Iris Group.

From December 1995 to April 2012 she was artistic director of the Greenwich Playhouse Ltd. and Galleon Theatre Company Ltd. which she co-founded with actor/director Bruce Jamieson. In 2004 they co-founded Galleon Films Ltd. and since she has written four screenplays: Inês de Castro; The Angel of Bordeaux; Lady Bare Knuckles; and the first ever filmic adaptation of John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi which will be directed by Nicolas Steil.

As a producer: on the London stage has produced over seventy theatre productions.
As a writer: has written numerous critically acclaimed stage and film scripts.
As an actress: has played leading roles in over thirty plays. Including: Anne in Anne of the Thousand Days; Juliet in Romeo and Juliet; Lady Macbeth in Macbeth; the Duchess The Duchess of Malfi (1998 and again in 2012); Goneril in King Lear; and Hedda in Hedda Gabler (2001 and again in 2007).

She also wrote/adapted, produced and acted in her productions of The Maias (2003 and again in 2011); Inês de Castro; The Heiress of the Cane Fields; The Crime of the Old Village; Thankfully there is Moonlight!; and Aristides – the Outcast Hero.

In 1995 graduated from South Bank University with a BA (Hons), first class degree in EEC Law.
In 1997 gained a Master’s Degree from King’s College London in Portuguese Studies.

In 2001 and 2005 won Arts Council of GB Playwright Bursaries.
In 2005 won the American Biographical Institute’s award for ‘Great Women of the 21st Century’; and in 2006, the medal ‘Woman of the Year’.
In 2009 won two international awards, including the prestigious Portuguese Government’s ‘Prémio de Talento in recognition of her 25 year career in the theatre.
