For millions of people, November 11, 1918 marks a new beginning. Peace has transformed Europe into a laboratory where new ideas, hopes and societal projects are experienced. From there arises a living, contradictory and thrilling epoch, the genesis of the world in which we live today: in the space of 21 years, mentalities have changed to the point of opening the way to dictatorships, violent discrimination of minorities and even a new war.
